Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar

About the role

McGill University is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach EDEC 201-002, a First Year Professional Seminar, in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering a 1‑credit, three‑hour weekly class that introduces pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and the complexities of the teacher role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions on the Quebec Education Program and professional competencies.
• Assess student competencies and professional portfolios.
• Coordinate with the DISE team and attend planning meetings at least two weeks before the course starts.
• Maintain course materials in the Education Building (EDUC 431) and use online platforms as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience).
• Teaching degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Expert knowledge of the course content and familiarity with the Quebec Education Program.
• Commitment to collaborative work with a team of instructors.
