Course Lecturer – First Year Professional Seminar (Fall 2026)

About the role

We are seeking a Course Lecturer to teach the First Year Professional Seminar (EDEC 201‑006) for the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) during the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will lead a weekly Friday session, introducing pre‑service teachers to school culture, the teaching profession, and core competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the 1‑credit seminar (Friday 2:35 pm‑5:25 pm) in the Education Building (EDUC 437).
• Present course content, facilitate discussions, and guide student reflections on school functioning and teacher roles.
• Assess student competencies and professional portfolios in alignment with the Quebec Education Program.
• Prepare and manage course materials, including use of myCourses and Zoom platforms.
• Collaborate with the DISE teaching team and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course start.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) and a teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience teaching in schools, preferably within the Quebec elementary/secondary system.
• Strong knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and the Ministry of Education’s professional competencies.
• Experience teaching pre‑service teachers or similar courses is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Familiarity with Zoom or comparable online meeting platforms.
