Course Lecturer – First Professional Seminar (EDSL 210)

About the role

McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to deliver the First Professional Seminar (EDSL 210) in the Fall 2026 term. The course introduces pre‑service teachers to classroom observation techniques and professional portfolio development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and facilitate classroom discussions on observing second‑language instruction.
• Guide students in reflecting on teacher‑student interaction patterns observed during field experiences.
• Integrate professional competencies and portfolio work into course activities.
• Collaborate with the DISE teaching team and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course starts.
• Maintain course schedule: Fridays, 11:35 am–2:25 pm in Education Building (EDUC 624).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Second Language Education or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Teaching qualification and documented experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Expert knowledge of the course content and familiarity with the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
• Understanding of the professional competencies defined by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Experience teaching ESL in Quebec elementary or secondary French‑school settings and prior experience with pre‑service teachers is an asset.
• Commitment to work with a collaborative instructional team.
