Course Lecturer – Elementary School Mathematics 1

About the role
The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the Fall 2026 offering of Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230-004). This three‑credit course introduces pre‑service elementary teachers to key mathematical concepts, student reasoning, and effective pedagogy aligned with the Quebec elementary mathematics program.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver weekly lectures on Fridays from 08:35 am to 11:25 am in the Education Building (EDUC 436).
- Design and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments to evaluate student learning.
- Facilitate classroom discussions that develop teachers’ understanding of mathematics content and pedagogy.
- Collaborate with the DISE teaching team and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course start date.
- Maintain alignment with the Quebec Education Program and Ministry of Education professional competencies.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in exceptional cases).
- Teaching degree or equivalent certification and documented experience teaching in elementary schools.
- Expert knowledge of elementary mathematics pedagogy and the Quebec Education Program.
- Proven success teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
- Commitment to teamwork and availability for pre‑course planning meetings.
