Course Lecturer – Elementary School Mathematics 1

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the fall 2026 offering of Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230‑003). The lecturer will deliver a three‑credit, in‑person course designed for pre‑service elementary teachers, focusing on mathematical content, student reasoning, and pedagogy aligned with the Quebec elementary mathematics program.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and tutorials on Thursday afternoons (2:35 pm‑5:25 pm) in the Education Building (EDUC 436).
• Develop and update course materials, assignments, and assessments that reflect the Quebec Education Program.
• Coordinate with the DISE teaching team, attending planning meetings at least two weeks before the course start.
• Assess student performance and provide feedback to support their development of mathematical understanding.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in education, mathematics, or a related field.
• Teaching qualification and documented experience teaching elementary mathematics.
• Familiarity with the Quebec Education Program and the professional competencies defined by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Demonstrated ability to teach in French at a high proficiency level.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of elementary mathematics pedagogy.
• Strong understanding of the Quebec elementary curriculum.
• Fluency in French for instruction and communication.
