About the role
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach Elementary Russian Language 1 (RUSS210 001) during the Fall 2026 term. This fixed‑term appointment involves delivering a three‑credit language course to undergraduate students.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare the course syllabus, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
- Deliver lectures and language practice sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (4:35 pm – 5:25 pm).
- Evaluate student performance, record grades, and submit attendance reports.
- Supervise teaching assistants and other support staff as needed.
- Provide academic guidance to students and respond to their inquiries.
- Follow the Pedagogical Regulation and Language Program Director guidelines, including test preparation, invigilation, and departmental meetings.
Required profile
- M.A. or Ph.D. in Russian, or enrollment in the Russian Studies graduate program at McGill.
- Native or near‑native fluency in Russian.
- At least two semesters of teaching experience at a comparable level, or be a graduate student in Russian Studies within the department.
- Familiarity with the course materials used in Russian language instruction.
