About the role
The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to deliver EDEM 660 – Community Relations in Education during the Fall 2026 term. This is a fixed‑term, online appointment responsible for a 3‑credit course that blends synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver course content covering school community relations, public involvement, and leadership in education.
- Adapt teaching materials to reflect current advances, Indigenous knowledge, and the Quebec Education Program.
- Coordinate with the partnering school board and Indigenous communities to ensure cultural relevance.
- Assess student performance, provide feedback, and maintain course records.
- Participate in pre‑course planning and ongoing coordination activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) related to education policy or administration.
- Expert knowledge of the course subject and Quebec’s education curriculum.
- Understanding of the 13 professional competencies of the Ministère de l’Éducation.
- Demonstrated experience with Indigenous pedagogy, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Prior teaching experience in Quebec elementary schools or with pre‑service teachers, preferably in Indigenous contexts.
Required skills
- Curriculum development grounded in Indigenous knowledge.
- Ability to deliver online instruction using synchronous and asynchronous formats.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for diverse learner groups.
