Course Lecturer – Advanced Applied Methods in Second Language Education

About the role

McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach EDTL 636 (Advanced Applied Methods in Second Language Education) during the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering a three‑credit, face‑to‑face course focused on modern strategies for second‑language teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver weekly lectures and workshops on second‑language acquisition, digital pedagogy, and Quebec education standards.
• Assess student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations.
• Guide teacher‑candidate practicum sessions, providing feedback on lesson planning and classroom implementation.
• Integrate digital tools such as Zoom and myCourses to enhance learning experiences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (PhD preferred).
• Strong grounding in second‑language acquisition, teaching methodologies, and diverse educational contexts.
• School‑based second‑language teaching experience, preferably ESL in Quebec.
• Experience supporting teacher candidates in language‑methods courses.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Zoom for virtual instruction.
• Experience using myCourses or similar learning management systems.
