About the role
The Department of Philosophy at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach PHIL 367-001, “19th Century Philosophy,” during the Winter 2027 term. The instructor will guide students through the works of Mach, Helmholtz, Dedekind, Frege, Marx, Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Mill and Bradley.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and lead discussions for PHIL 367-001 (3 credits, CAP 45) in the BIRKS 205 classroom.
- Hold classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 04:05 pm to 05:25 pm, covering the course syllabus and assessments.
Required profile
- Completed a PhD in Philosophy or be actively enrolled in a doctoral program.
- Demonstrated effective teaching ability through prior teaching or teaching‑assistant experience.
- Research specialization in 19th Century Philosophy, with conference presentations or publications.
- At least two graduate seminars completed on topics specifically in 19th Century Philosophy.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
- Proficiency in English communication, both spoken and written.
