Counter Clerk – Automotive Parts Retail

About the role

We are looking for a Counter Clerk to join our Fredericton store and deliver top‑notch service to both retail shoppers and professional installers. You will help customers find the right automotive parts, process sales, and support daily store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers in person and by phone, providing courteous and professional service.
• Identify required parts using vehicle make, model and year information.
• Advise customers on part selection, usage, and related accessories.
• Process cash, credit, check, return and exchange transactions through the POS system.
• Maintain accurate cash drawer balances and handle POS transactions.
• Receive freight, stock shelves, front/facing merchandise and keep the sales floor clean.
• Operate store equipment such as brake lathes, battery chargers and diagnostic tools after training.
• Perform occasional deliveries when a valid driver’s licence and company policies allow.
• Assist with inventory cycle counts and monthly stock adjustments.
• Address customer concerns promptly and follow safety and company protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in automotive parts, retail or customer‑service environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s licence for occasional delivery duties.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS and inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, systems and cataloging (e.g., Weatherly Index).
• Experience operating brake lathes, battery chargers and diagnostic tools.
