About the role
The Co-operators group of companies is seeking a Counsel for Property & Casualty (P&C) Litigation to manage a variety of bodily injury and property claims. This full‑time, hybrid position will involve day‑to‑day file handling, legal advice, and collaboration with claims teams to resolve matters efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Handle lower to moderate complexity P&C litigation files from referral through resolution, including assessments, legal research, and participation in examinations, mediations, motions, appeals, pre‑trials, and trials.
- Provide legal advice, training, and guidance to agents, insured clients, and internal staff.
- Support senior counsel and AVPs on higher‑complexity claims and special projects.
- Identify issues requiring expert input or escalation to senior leadership.
- Recommend process improvements to reduce financial and legal exposure.
Required profile
- Legal qualification with experience in insurance or P&C litigation.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
- Innovative mindset focused on operational efficiency and client needs.
