Controller – Food Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on Controller to lead the finance function of a growing food manufacturing business in Greater Vancouver. You will partner closely with the CFO, mentor an accounting team, and drive process improvements across manufacturing, distribution, and retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a collaborative accounting team.
• Oversee full‑cycle accounting, month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close for multiple entities.
• Prepare financial statements, management reporting and variance analysis.
• Manage cost accounting, inventory valuation and production costing to support operations.
• Monitor cash flow, forecasting and working capital.
• Coordinate year‑end audits and assist with tax working papers.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies and financial processes.
• Partner with operations, supply chain and retail leaders to provide financial insights.
• Lead ERP implementation, automation projects and finance system enhancements.
• Support new retail locations, entity onboarding and other growth initiatives.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years leading finance teams in manufacturing, food production, consumer goods, distribution or similar inventory‑driven environments.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, full‑cycle accounting and cost accounting.
• Experience with inventory valuation, production costing and operational finance.
• Proven success leading ERP implementations, automation or process‑improvement initiatives.
