Controller – Finance Leadership (Montreal)

About the role

Torngat Metals is seeking a qualified Controller to lead its finance function in Montreal. Reporting to the VP Finance, you will oversee all accounting and reporting activities as the company advances its strategic rare‑earth project.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Partner with the VP Finance to provide strategic financial insights for project development and operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external financial statements.
• Manage tax filings, government reporting and other statutory obligations.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical memos and IFRS documentation.
• Oversee cash disbursements, treasury functions and short‑term cash forecasting.
• Maintain SAGE 50, evaluate cloud‑based accounting solutions and future ERP integration.
• Design and improve internal controls, budgeting, re‑forecasting and variance analysis.
• Train, supervise and mentor accounting staff and support audit processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Minimum 6 years progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in mining, industrial or process‑driven environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and public‑company reporting standards.
• Familiarity with NI 52‑109 and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance.
