Content & Communications Specialist

About the role

The Content & Communications Specialist creates compelling content to strengthen brand awareness, engage target audiences, and support business growth for Smartrend Manufacturing Group and First Light Safety Products.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with marketing, sales, product, HR and leadership to extract accurate, newsworthy content.
• Plan and schedule high‑quality content aligned with messaging guidelines and lead‑generation goals.
• Write, edit and proofread targeted marketing content across all channels.
• Ensure brand consistency by collaborating with graphic designers and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to additional marketing projects, agile initiatives and special assignments as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in content marketing, copywriting and corporate communications.
• Strong writing, editing and storytelling abilities.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and analytical.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Copywriting and content creation for multiple channels.
• Experience developing content strategies for segmented audiences.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear, engaging content.
• Knowledge of photography and video production (considered an asset).
• Willingness to travel within Canada and the United States.
