Consultant, Transaction Tax Compliance

About the role

Ryan is seeking a Consultant to join its Transaction Tax Compliance team. The role focuses on preparing and filing state and local sales and use tax returns, supporting clients throughout the compliance season, and ensuring accurate tax reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare sales and use tax returns using compliance software and file them electronically.
• Reconcile tax payable accounts, bank statements, and prepare related journal entries and checks.
• Manipulate tax data in Microsoft Excel and Access; maintain documentation in Word, Excel, and Access.
• Resolve notices and assessments from tax authorities and assist with business license filings.
• Document compliance processes for new clients and identify process improvements.
• Transition new clients to Ryan’s technology solutions and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Minimum 6 accounting credit hours with a GPA ≥ 3.0 and major GPA ≥ 3.25.
• Zero to two years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license (passport preferred).
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Word.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel.
• Beginner Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Internet navigation and research.
• Experience with tax compliance software.
