Communications Officer – Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences

About the role

The Communications Officer supports the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (FAES) in developing and delivering communication initiatives that align with the university’s institutional priorities. Based at the Macdonald Campus, the role works closely with the AES Manager, Communications and collaborates with faculty leadership, professors, and administrative units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications and social media activities that support faculty objectives such as student recruitment, awareness of initiatives, and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide communications support to the Dean’s Office, academic units, and administrative teams under the direction of the Manager, Communications.
• Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Institutional Relations (CIR) editorial and internal communications teams to ensure consistent messaging across the university.
• Create, adapt, and edit content for newsletters, blogs, websites, social media, presentations, and promotional materials, ensuring alignment with branding and institutional standards.
• Offer editorial guidance to faculty communications staff and support projects from concept through production, including coordination with external service providers.
• Assist with communications and logistical needs for faculty events, committees, and special projects.

Required profile

• Reports to the Director of Communications in the Office of Communications and Institutional Relations.
• Located on the Macdonald Campus and works closely with the AES Manager, Communications.
• Collaborates with faculty leadership, professors, and administrative units to advance the faculty’s education, research, and engagement mission.
