Classroom Support Assistant – Occupational Therapy

About the role

The Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at UBC’s Surrey campus is seeking a Classroom Support Assistant to provide daily classroom and equipment support for its Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) programs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare teaching and learning spaces by gathering, organizing, and setting up equipment such as therapy beds, clinical tools, and chairs.
• Ensure all equipment is functional and maintain tidy, organized classrooms.
• Respond quickly to short‑notice issues, providing calm, customer‑service‑focused resolutions.
• Perform administrative tasks including class scheduling, room bookings, and support for written and clinical examinations.
• Liaise with MEDIT/UBC IT to verify that audio‑visual systems operate correctly.
• Occasionally work overtime or weekends during exams and special events.

Required profile

• Physically able to lift and move therapy beds, clinical equipment, and stacked chairs.
• Available to start work at 8:00 am and work on‑site 100% of the time.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to handle urgent situations calmly.

Required skills

• Audio‑visual equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Equipment handling and setup for therapy and clinical use.
• Experience with class scheduling and room‑booking systems.
