Buyer – Strategic Procurement Specialist

About the role
The Buyer will manage the acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment, and services to support Tayco’s manufacturing operations. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Service, the role ensures optimal inventory levels, cost‑effective purchasing, and uninterrupted production.
Key responsibilities
- Lead RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, and contract negotiations to secure best value.
- Establish and manage long‑term agreements and strategic supplier partnerships.
- Drive cost‑saving and cost‑avoidance initiatives through negotiation, supplier optimization, and value engineering.
- Analyze Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to guide purchasing decisions.
- Monitor supplier performance with scorecards, relationship development, and business reviews.
- Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks via alternate sourcing, diversification, and inventory planning.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance product availability with working‑capital efficiency.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, cost, and delivery, including non‑conformance management.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data in ERP/MRP systems.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Inventory Control, Quality, and Operations to ensure supply continuity.
- Support continuous‑improvement initiatives in procurement and inventory management.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 3–7 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply‑chain experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
- Strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership principles and cost analysis.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
