About the role
Summit’s Environmental Planning and Management division is looking for a motivated Biologist to join its Lloydminster office. The role combines field work and office analysis to support pre‑development baseline assessments and ongoing environmental monitoring for energy projects across western Canada.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and participate in baseline environmental assessments, including wildlife, rare plants, wetlands, and aquatic/fisheries surveys.
- Conduct site identification, monitoring, and field assessments following regulated protocols (wetlands, terrestrial, aquatics, soils).
- Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions (EPEA, Water Act, PCRA, etc.) and provide regular project status updates.
- Support permitting, approvals, and on‑site construction commitments (EI/EM) while ensuring safety, quality, cost‑efficiency and timeliness.
- Mentor team members on regulatory and industry guidelines and contribute to a strong safety culture.
Required profile
- University degree or diploma in environmental science, biology, ecology or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of consulting or environmental industry experience.
- Familiarity with local wildlife and vegetation species in the Lloydminster region.
- Safety‑first attitude and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Regulated environmental surveys and monitoring.
- Detection and mitigation measures for wildlife and habitats.
- Technical reporting and preparation of regulatory submissions.
- Field assessment protocols for wetlands, terrestrial, aquatic and soil environments.
