Water Treatment Operator – 2pm to 11:30pm Shift

About the role

The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for treating oily waters using chemical recipes and operating pumps, valves, and other process equipment. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role includes maintaining chemical inventories and assisting with equipment maintenance on a Monday‑Friday shift from 2 pm to 11:30 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Move oily waters from the tank farm to process tanks as directed.
• Sample water at various treatment stages and perform basic wet‑chemistry tests.
• Add hazardous and non‑hazardous chemicals using pumps according to instructions.
• Prepare reagents and maintain inventory of treatment chemicals and supplies.
• Assist with preventive and reactive maintenance of process equipment, including filter press and oil/water separator.
• Perform housekeeping, SOP maintenance, and other tasks in the water treatment building.

Required profile

• Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology or Chemical Technician, or 2+ years equivalent experience.
• WHMIS and Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG) training.
• Lift‑truck operator training or willingness to be trained.
• Knowledge of valves, piping systems and pumps (asset).
• Familiarity with Ontario Regulation 347 (asset).
