Associate Lawyer – Litigation Team

About the role
A growing Edmonton‑based law firm is expanding its litigation team and seeks a motivated associate lawyer. You will work alongside experienced litigators on civil, commercial and family disputes while gradually taking ownership of your own files in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and assist with a broad range of civil, criminal and family law matters.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, written submissions and other court materials.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
- Represent clients in chambers applications, mediations, negotiations and court appearances.
- Attend discoveries, hearings and trials.
- Advise clients on litigation strategy and dispute‑resolution options.
- Collaborate with other members of the firm.
Required profile
- Called to the Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (fully called lawyers only).
- 0‑5 years of post‑call experience; experience in civil litigation, family law or criminal law is a plus.
- Self‑starter who works independently without micromanagement.
- Resourceful, gritty and able to solve problems autonomously.
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse client base.
Required skills
- Strong drafting ability for pleadings, affidavits and court submissions.
- Excellent oral and written advocacy.
- Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines.
- Legal research proficiency.
