Associate Lawyer – Family Law & Estate Litigation

About the role

Crossroads Law, an award‑winning firm expanding rapidly across Western Canada, is looking for an Associate Lawyer to join its Alberta practice. The role focuses on family law, civil litigation and estate litigation, delivering comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients on family law matters such as divorce, child custody, support, property division and guardianship.
• Provide independent legal advice and draft flat‑rate agreements including prenups, wills, cohabitation and postnuptial agreements.
• Manage an active family law caseload with minimal supervision.
• Attend court hearings and trials, negotiate settlements and prepare witnesses for examinations.
• Maintain regular client communication, issue monthly billings and handle accounts receivable collections.
• Draft legal documents, conduct research, ensure regulatory compliance and manage case files.
• Offer legal coaching services to clients as needed.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution.
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta and licensed to practice in Alberta.
• One to four years of experience in family law or estate litigation.
• Strong analytical and courtroom abilities.
• Understanding of billing procedures and practice.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent client management and customer service orientation.
