Associate Director - Security Finance

About the role

iA is hiring an Associate Director for its Securities Finance Trading team in Toronto. The role supports securities lending, borrowing and matched-book activities across equities and fixed income, working with the trading desk, counterparties, custodians and internal stakeholders to ensure trades are accurately executed, maintained and optimised. It is a hybrid position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of securities lending, borrowing and matched-book transactions, from trade execution through final return.
• Manage and monitor trade capture, matching, settlement status and transaction processing.
• Act as the primary contact with counterparties and coordinate trade comparison, matching, re-rates, recalls, returns and other lifecycle activities.
• Investigate and resolve trade exceptions with counterparties, custodians and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor inventory availability and borrowing requirements, and manage collateral optimisation, allocation decisions and funding efficiency.
• Monitor collateralisation through the Triparty platform, including RQV instructions and eligible collateral requirements.
• Work with the Securities Finance Trading Desk on execution, liquidity management, client servicing and business growth.
• Assist with onboarding new counterparties, products and trading relationships, and take part in system enhancements, workflow improvements and automation initiatives.
• Maintain procedures and controls for transaction processing and escalate material issues or control concerns.

Required profile

• Experience in securities finance, capital markets, funding, collateral management, brokerage operations or a related financial services environment.
• Strong operational discipline, attention to detail and analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and coordinate across trading, operations and external counterparties.
• Continuous-improvement mindset, with interest in automation and scalable operating models.
• Intermediate French is an asset, given daily collaboration with French-speaking partners.

Required skills

• Understanding of securities lending, borrowing, matched-book financing and collateral management.
• Experience with broker-dealers, custodians, agent lenders and institutional counterparties.
• Experience with EquiLend and securities finance trade management platforms is a strong asset.
