Assistant Professor – Early Career Clinician Scientist (Tenure Track)

About the role

The Department of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia seeks an early‑career clinician scientist for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will serve as a consultant Clinical Geneticist in the Provincial Medical Genetics Program and hold a concurrent research appointment at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an innovative translational research program focused on genetic diseases.
• Provide clinical genetic services, including pediatric assessment, dysmorphology, prenatal counseling, and adult genetics.
• Participate in departmental teaching, mentoring undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate learners.
• Contribute to university service and professional community activities.
• Collaborate with basic scientists and clinicians across UBC and affiliated hospitals.

Required profile

• Qualified Clinical Geneticist eligible for consultant appointment in British Columbia.
• Strong potential for independent, translational research and securing external funding.
• Commitment to teaching, mentorship, and service within an academic environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
