Assistant Buyer (Retail/CPG) – Mississauga

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Buyer to support a fast‑paced merchandising team in a high‑volume retail environment. This temporary assignment offers hands‑on experience in category management, vendor liaison, and product performance analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze product performance data to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Manage purchase orders, including creation, changes, cancellations, and delivery tracking.
• Serve as the primary liaison between internal buying teams and vendors to resolve out‑of‑stock issues, pricing discrepancies, and new product launches.
• Review daily and weekly reports, providing insights and highlighting key trends.
• Support merchandising initiatives such as planogram development and store setup coordination.
• Assist with product availability planning for new store openings and promotional activities.
• Collaborate with vendors on item setup, product sourcing, and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in retail or consumer packaged goods.
• Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
