Ambient Technician

About the role

The Ambient Technician will ensure air monitoring equipment is calibrated and maintained to deliver high‑quality, legally defensible environmental data. You will work primarily in the field, providing excellent customer service while complying with provincial monitoring directives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform accurate calibration and troubleshooting of ambient air monitoring systems and sensors in line with provincial requirements.
• Prepare and submit timely field documentation, including calibration and service reports.
• Configure data acquisition systems (DAS) and manage data polling as needed.
• Communicate critical issues to team members to minimise downtime.
• Operate company vehicles safely, tow trailers, and carry out various field duties.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in environmental science, chemistry, electronics, instrumentation or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to troubleshoot under pressure.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of computers, electronics, pumps, and air sampling systems.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean record and ability to operate and park trailers.
• Ethical, detail‑oriented and capable of working independently in demanding physical and weather conditions.
