About the role
This position supports backcountry operations and the maintenance of the shop facility for the Lands and Resources department. It is a primarily field‑based role that involves long days outdoors in varying conditions, requiring a quick learner with hands‑on experience and a team‑oriented mindset.
Key responsibilities
- Support field work on and off the CLAWR and operate department equipment such as side‑by‑sides, skid steers, tractors, trucks, quads, boats and snowmobiles.
- Participate in consultation site visits, including HRIA (Archeology) field work.
- Conduct fisheries monitoring, water‑quality monitoring, and terrestrial biology fieldwork using cameras and acoustic recording units.
- Manage data using computers and software tools.
- Maintain a clean and well‑kept shop facility and perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean three‑year abstract.
- Demonstrated field experience in environmental or related sectors (e.g., wildfire, seismic, forestry, landscaping, guiding).
- Experience operating boats and ATVs; ability to stay overnight in the field.
- Willingness to work weekends approximately 50 % of the time.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team while handling multiple priorities.
