Administrative Secretary – Child & Adolescent Mental Health

About the role
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program at the Health Sciences Centre is seeking a dedicated Administrative Secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial support. This full‑time, onsite position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth daily operations and effective communication with patients, families, and service providers.
Key responsibilities
- Transcribe, type, and input correspondence, reports, patient histories, and statistical data.
- Manage telephone reception, schedule patient appointments, and provide information to families and external partners.
- Enter and maintain data in the EPR/IHIS system.
- Provide backup secretarial services to other team members within the program.
Required profile
- Minimum two years of related experience, preferably in a mental‑health care setting.
- Completion of a recognized secretarial training program and at least a Grade 12 education (Manitoba standards).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations tactfully.
- Excellent oral and written English communication.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Typing speed of at least 50 wpm and knowledge of medical terminology (minimum 75% pass).
- Familiarity with Environment for Scheduling Personnel (ESP) or similar staff‑scheduling systems.
