Accounting Manager – Food Manufacturing

About the role

Our client, a well‑established food manufacturing organization in Markham, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the leadership team. The role will support the Financial Controller and oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations in a fast‑paced, inventory‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, manage the general ledger, and support payroll processing.
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Produce monthly inventory control, valuation, WIP analysis, and COGS reports.
• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing and corporate operations.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and support year‑end audit preparation.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to improve cost control and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA designation is a strong asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in food manufacturing or a similar production environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and production reporting.
• Proven ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
