Speaker of the Tłıchǫ Assembly

About the role

The Tłıchǫ Government is seeking a Speaker to preside over the Tłıchǫ Assembly and its Annual Gathering. This senior parliamentary role ensures orderly conduct of legislative sessions, upholds the Assembly’s rules, and represents the Assembly in workshops, caucus meetings, and other gatherings.

Key responsibilities

• Chair all sessions of the Tłıchǫ Assembly and the Annual Gathering.
• Apply the Tłıchǫ Assembly Rules of Order and maintain decorum during meetings.
• Facilitate member participation, manage speaking order, and ensure a respectful environment.
• Preside over Assembly workshops, caucus meetings, and related gatherings.
• Ensure accurate recording and reporting of Assembly decisions and proceedings.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of the Tłıchǫ language, culture, and way of life.
• Must be a Tłıchǫ citizen.
• Cannot be a current sitting member of the Tłıchǫ Assembly.
• Fluent in both Tłıchǫ and English.
• Demonstrated commitment to the Tłıchǫ community.

Required skills

• Fluency in Tłıchǫ and English.
• Understanding of parliamentary procedures and rules of order.
• Ability to interpret and enforce procedural rules.
