Sheet Metal Worker – Manufacturing

About the role

VAW Systems Ltd. is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to join its manufacturing team in Winnipeg. You will work in a fast‑paced shop environment producing custom sheet‑metal components for HVAC and other industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, mark and cut sheet metal according to templates, blueprints and work orders.
• Operate metalworking machines – shears, punches, drills, presses and bending equipment – to shape and straighten metal.
• Grind, buff and chip seams, joints and excess material to achieve final dimensions.
• Inspect finished parts for quality, conformance to specifications and surface cleanliness.
• Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment as required.
• Fit, join and weld sheet‑metal parts using GMAW (MIG) techniques.
• Clean machines and work areas, and operate metal‑cleaning equipment to remove weld spatter, rust and scale.
• Sort and manage metal sheets, scrap and other materials, ensuring proper storage.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in sheet‑metal fabrication or custom metal work.
• Ability to work in a noisy, dusty and hot shop environment.
• Physical capability to stand for long periods, lift up to 23 kg, and perform repetitive motions.
• Strong manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Reliable attendance for evening shifts and overtime as needed.
