Sessional Instructor – Environmental Science (Fall/Winter)

About the role

Concordia University of Edmonton seeks a sessional instructor to teach three undergraduate environmental science courses during the 2026‑2027 academic year. The instructor will deliver lectures and labs, guide student learning, and uphold the university’s commitment to inclusive, high‑quality education.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate labs for Soil Science (ENSC 220) and Environmental Assessment (ENSC 373).
• Deliver lectures for Introduction to GIS (ENSC 270) and associated practical sessions.
• Prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Grade student work and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain academic standards and adhere to university policies on diversity and inclusion.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in environmental science, soil science, geography, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching or instructional experience at the post‑secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of Alberta soils, GIS technologies, and environmental assessment processes.
• Commitment to fostering an equitable and respectful learning environment.

Required skills

• Soil science (classification, composition, conservation).
• Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing.
• Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GPS) operation.
• Environmental assessment methodologies and related legislation.
• Laboratory instruction and safety management.
