After School Educator – School Age Program

About the role

Join Compass Early Learning and Care as an After School Educator in the CELC Archie Stouffer School Age Program. You will work with kindergarten and school‑age children in a supportive, play‑based environment, collaborating with families, community partners and fellow educators.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead interest‑based and play‑based activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
• Maintain active supervision while engaging in play and ensure a safe, healthy environment.
• Document children’s learning progress through observation and reflection.
• Assist children with personal care tasks such as diapering, dressing and eating.
• Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families and community partners to create a supportive environment.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years experience working with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certifications, and up‑to‑date immunization records.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or pursuing an ECE diploma or an equivalent childcare designation.

Required skills

• Strong observation and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and relationship‑building with children, families and staff.
