Second Cook – Rotational Position on MV Saga

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Second Cook to join the galley team aboard the MV Saga, operating out of Squamish, BC. This rotational position offers 30 days on‑board followed by 14 days off and provides an opportunity to work in a high‑volume production kitchen serving crew and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook large‑scale buffet and Grab‑&‑Go meals according to menu specifications.
• Oversee the Third Cook in vegetable, salad, garnish and raw meat preparation.
• Prepare, package and re‑heat sandwiches and micro‑meals, ensuring quality standards.
• Assist the First Cook with all cooking tasks and maintain the buffet line during service.
• Direct and perform deep‑cleaning of galley equipment, work areas, utensils and flatware.
• Support the storekeeper with receiving, unpackaging and storing provisions.
• Maintain cleanliness of cooking ranges, ovens, fryers, griddles and other equipment after each use.
• Organise and monitor the contents of chillers and freezers.
• Communicate effectively with team members and uphold personal hygiene standards.

Required profile

• Culinary diploma or equivalent experience.
• Foodsafe Level I certification (or higher) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years progressive experience as a Second or Third Cook in high‑volume production or banquet kitchens.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
