Retail Innovation Challenge Research Assistant

About the role

The Retail Innovation Challenge Research Assistant will support the planning and execution of a university‑wide competition that connects student teams with real‑world retail case studies. Working closely with the Student and Corporate Advisor, you will help ensure the competition runs smoothly from early October through the live final at the end of the month.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage your network to attract student teams, coordinating “Save the Date” outreach with consulting clubs across universities starting in April.
• Maintain and update the BSRM RIC database of university contacts.
• Assist in drafting the competition case study and compiling related data sets.
• Support logistical tasks for all three competition phases, including virtual judging on October 18 and 25 and the live final on October 31.

Required profile

• Current McGill student enrolled in MMR, MBA, MMA, or U3+ BCom program with a retail concentration, preferably focused on finance or analytics.
• Strong critical‑thinking, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Self‑motivated, able to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
• Client‑focused, service‑oriented mindset with an interest in an entrepreneurial educational environment.
• Fluent English (spoken and written); French is an asset.
