Registered Nurse – Community & Long‑Term Care

About the role

Extendicare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support resident and patient care in community and long‑term care settings. The RN will work daily to uphold nursing standards, ensure compliance with governing bodies, and contribute to a safe, supportive environment for all residents.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver resident/patient care in line with established nursing standards, physicians’ orders, and internal policies.
• Assist in assessment and monitoring of residents/patients, and help develop, implement, review, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Manage and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff, including orientation and supervisory duties.
• Monitor staff performance, conduct appraisals, and refer issues to the Director of Care as needed.
• Provide direction to the nursing department in the Director’s absence.

Required profile

• Current certificate of competence from an approved institution for the province.
• Eligibility for registration with the province’s professional nursing body.
• Previous experience in community or long‑term care with comprehensive knowledge of nursing duties.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks by urgency.
• Strong verbal and written communication, as well as problem‑solving abilities.
