Project Manager, Preconstruction Services

About the role

BUILD IT’s Preconstruction Services team guides projects from design through permitting to construction, keeping budget and buildability in focus. As the Project Manager you will own the process from the initial RFP through to the start of construction, ensuring a seamless hand‑off to the construction team.

Key responsibilities

• Review designs for buildability and lead value‑engineering workshops with the design team.
• Track high‑level project costs, support GMP development and negotiate with owners.
• Manage consultant procurement, including RFP issuance, quote comparison and contract negotiation.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule from feasibility to construction start.
• Initiate long‑lead procurement and advise on site logistics and phasing.
• Lead preconstruction meetings, maintain client relationships and conduct site visits.
• Prepare and execute a formal hand‑off to the construction team with complete documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in preconstruction, project management or a related role within commercial construction.
• Strong technical judgment with the ability to flag risk early.
• Excellent communication skills for managing clients, consultants and internal teams.
