Project Manager – Indigenous Archaeology Centre

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the development and operation of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Archaeology Centre, supporting Indigenous‑led scholarship, research, and capacity‑building initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) grant and budget, liaising with the project team and partners on the centre’s construction.
• Plan and develop new grant applications while overseeing multiple research projects.
• Provide outreach and collaboration with faculty, students, UBC units and institutional partners.
• Communicate with partners, policymakers and the broader community, supporting strategic planning and performance tracking.
• Cultivate respectful relationships with the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm community and other stakeholders.
• Act as the main point of contact for the centre’s construction project, coordinating with internal and external consultants and vendors.
• Oversee procurement, installation of complex equipment and software development for the centre’s data platforms.
• Manage research project budgets, forecasting, monitoring compliance and reporting for funding sources.
