Plant Buyer

About the role

The Plant Buyer supports the manufacturing site by procuring operating supplies and maintenance spare parts. Working on‑site five days a week in Lachine, the role ensures that inventory levels are accurate, costs are controlled, and the plant runs without material interruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Track and maintain spare part and operational supply inventories in SAP, ensuring database accuracy.
• Organise stock rooms logically, update inventories as parts arrive or are consumed.
• Analyse inventory targets regularly to optimise levels based on availability, cost, usage history and lead times.
• Monitor spending through SAP/check‑book, collaborate with maintenance and production managers to establish month‑end accruals.
• Report on key performance measures such as monthly spare part inventory levels, purchasing activity and material control accuracy.
• Communicate with maintenance staff and management to coordinate purchases and act as the primary local contact for plant vendors.

Required profile

• Experience in purchasing or inventory management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate inventory levels and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, production and vendor teams.
