Pipeline Technical Director

About the role

The Pipeline TD at ICON Creative Studio ensures smooth data flow across the studio’s production pipeline, troubleshooting issues and implementing technical solutions to keep projects on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous and professional technical support to production teams.
• Evaluate tickets, implement solutions, and notify supervisors of potential schedule disruptions.
• Identify and automate inefficient or redundant tasks.
• Maintain documentation for new and modified tools and systems.
• Participate in code reviews, training sessions, and regular production meetings.

Required skills

• Willingness to understand complex technical challenges.
• Proactive investigation and troubleshooting.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Use of Design Patterns and SOLID programming principles.
• Fluency with the Python programming language.
• Good understanding of visual effects and animation pipelines.
• Proven experience writing pipeline tools and modifying workflows.

Desirable skills

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or related field.
• Knowledge of database management and web technologies.
• Experience with UI/UX design using Qt libraries.
• Experience writing or maintaining REST‑ful APIs.
• Familiarity with DCC applications such as Maya, ZBrush, Nuke, Houdini, MARI, Premiere, Photoshop.
• Experience with MEL, PyMEL, Maya Python API, Maya C++ API.
• Version control (Git, BitBucket, GitLab) and issue tracking (YouTrack).
• Production tracking (Shotgun), farm scheduler (Deadline), renderer (Arnold), USD/Alembic.
