Payroll & Benefits Specialist – Shared Services

About the role

Scotia Investments Limited is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Shared Services team in Bedford, NS. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, you will ensure accurate, compliant payroll and benefits administration across multiple companies and provinces.

Key responsibilities

• Process multi‑company, multi‑province payroll accurately and in compliance with legislation and data protection standards.
• Administer employee enrolments, changes, and terminations for payroll, pension, and benefits platforms.
• Respond to payroll, pension and benefits inquiries and support team leaders in using related systems.
• Complete reconciliations, remittances, billings and conduct audits to maintain compliance.
• Collaborate with external vendors to ensure smooth program administration.
• Partner with People & Culture on disability case management and attendance programs.
• Support People & Culture reporting, analytics, metrics and funding submissions.

Required profile

• PCP designation (required).
• Diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
• CPHR or CEBS designation is an asset.
• Experience with Payworks or a similar payroll/HRIS platform.
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Comfort working with collective agreements and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
