Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer to join Noratel Canada in Mississauga. You will take ownership of the mechanical design and documentation lifecycle for transformer and reactor product lines, turning customer concepts into manufacturable products that serve markets in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Key responsibilities

• Design and revise mechanical parts and assemblies using 3‑D CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor.
• Create detailed 2‑D manufacturing drawings and generate accurate bills of materials.
• Perform FEM, structural and thermal simulations to validate performance and reliability.
• Review customer specifications, assess feasibility and develop cost‑effective design solutions.
• Prepare equipment manuals, repair instructions, test procedures and other technical documentation.
• Manage engineering change requests and keep drawings, specifications and design records up‑to‑date.
• Enter and maintain component, material and routing data in the Sage500 ERP system.
• Source components, request quotations and collaborate with suppliers to optimise designs for cost, quality and manufacturability.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented engineer with a practical approach to problem solving.
• Strong communication skills to work with cross‑functional, international teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects from concept through production release.

Required skills

• 3‑D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor or equivalent).
• FEM, structural and thermal simulation.
• Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management.
• ERP data entry and maintenance (Sage500 preferred).
• Technical documentation and engineering change management.
