About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join its Fleet Management Department. You will be responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repair and preventive maintenance on trucks, vans, electric vehicles, and heavy‑duty equipment.
• Overhaul engines and transmissions, and diagnose electrical and electronic systems.
• Conduct vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial regulations.
• Collaborate with other mechanics and trade staff to support fleet operations.
• Maintain accurate service records and adhere to safety standards.

Required profile

• Full‑time CUPE 116 employee eligible for university benefits.
• Willingness to work a four‑day weekday schedule with day shifts; overtime may be required.
• Flexibility to adapt to operational needs, including occasional night shifts.
• Commitment to a safe, sustainable, and efficient fleet environment.
