Junior Software Engineer – Real‑time Game Streaming

About the role

DeOS is looking for a motivated new‑grad software engineer to join its real‑time game streaming team in Montreal. You will work on cutting‑edge edge‑computing technology that enables instant, high‑performance gaming directly in a browser.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise C++ components for low‑latency game streaming.
• Develop backend services and APIs with Node.js and TypeScript for session management, matchmaking and streaming orchestration.
• Build and maintain video/audio streaming pipelines, handling encoding, decoding, buffering and synchronisation.
• Implement and fine‑tune network protocols such as WebRTC, UDP and TCP to guarantee smooth gameplay.
• Contribute to client‑side performance using TypeScript‑based applications.
• Debug latency, packet‑loss and performance bottlenecks in real‑time systems.
• Participate in code reviews, performance testing and continuous optimisation of the streaming stack.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
• Strong ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
• Willingness to relocate to Montreal.
