Intermediate Architect – Institutional & High‑Rise Projects

About the role

Acton Ostry Architects is looking for an intermediate to senior level architect or architectural technologist to join our Vancouver studio. The role focuses on mid‑ to large‑scale institutional, community, and high‑rise multifamily/mixed‑use projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and oversee project development from concept through construction documents.
• Produce design, permit, and construction drawings with a coherent architectural expression.
• Coordinate consultants, manage BIM collaboration, and administer construction contracts.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, specifications, and envelope detailing.
• Contribute to the studio’s transition to a Revit‑based PC workflow.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Architecture or Architectural/Building Technology from an accredited institution.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the AIBC.
• 5+ years of experience on institutional, community, or high‑rise multifamily projects.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines, maintain high quality standards, and present design solutions effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit and BIM Collaborate Pro.
• Working experience with Vectorworks and SketchUp.
• Envelope detailing expertise.
• Construction contract administration.
• Consultant coordination.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and specifications.
