About the role

Macon Industries Inc., a manufacturing company specializing in diamond core drilling and placer mining equipment, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead its people strategy on Vancouver Island. The role will oversee the full HR spectrum, from talent acquisition to compliance, ensuring the organization attracts and retains the skilled workforce needed for continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute talent acquisition and workforce planning to meet hiring targets for trades, technical and professional roles.
• Partner with department leaders to establish consistent, fair and legally compliant HR practices.
• Lead investigations, standardize progressive discipline and coach supervisors on employee‑relations matters.
• Strengthen leadership capability through clear processes, documentation and performance‑management tools.
• Oversee HR operations including policies, records, benefits administration, payroll‑related coordination and return‑to‑work processes, ensuring compliance with BC legislation and WorkSafeBC.
• Provide workforce data, anticipate talent risks and support structural changes as part of long‑term planning.
• Drive initiatives that improve employee engagement and cross‑department collaboration.
• Guide the HR team’s priorities, develop processes and ensure consistent, professional service delivery.

Required profile

• Strategic mindset with the ability to shape people systems and culture.
• Experience managing full‑cycle HR functions in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation and WorkSafeBC compliance.
• Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and coach supervisors.
• Excellent communication, investigative and problem‑solving skills.
