Human Resources Assistant (12‑month term)

About the role

The Human Resources Assistant will support the Manager, Health & Safety in managing occupational and non‑occupational disability claims for Surrey School District. Working within the Employee Health and Safety department, the assistant provides confidential administrative support and helps coordinate program activities related to early return‑to‑work initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and process information required for WorkSafeBC claims.
• Engage injured employees in Early Return to Work and Stay at Work initiatives, escalating issues as needed.
• Update and maintain the Health & Safety Information System with accurate data.
• Collate data, prepare reports, distribute information to partners and analyse trends.
• Provide guidance to managers, principals, teachers, support staff, union representatives, vendors and WorkSafeBC on health‑care and short‑term time‑loss claims.
• Assist in developing and updating the district’s Early Return to Work and Recover at Work program and related policies.

Required profile

• Experience in HR, health‑and‑safety, or related administrative roles.
• Familiarity with WorkSafeBC claim processes.
• Ability to handle confidential information with accuracy.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
