HR Clerk – Human Resources Administration

About the role

The Human Resources Clerk provides essential administrative support for the full employee life‑cycle within the Faculty of Arts at UBC. You will work closely with HR specialists, managers and staff to ensure smooth recruitment, onboarding, promotions, leaves and terminations.

Key responsibilities

• Process full‑lifecycle appointments for staff, faculty and students in Workday, including new hires, extensions, salary changes and funding updates.
• Provide clear information on appointment, payroll and HR inquiries.
• Support recruitment activities: post job ads, prepare materials, arrange interviews and maintain recruitment files.
• Coordinate staff applications, update job descriptions, create requisitions and verify employee information in Workday.
• Collect and process departing employee documentation.
• Ensure correct classification and advertising of positions in collaboration with HR and supervisors.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for Workday HR modules, appointment management and honoraria.

Required profile

• Experience in HR administration or related support functions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with faculty, staff and students.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple academic units.
