Payroll & Benefits Specialist

About the role

Scotia Investments Limited is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Shared Services team in Bedford, NS. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, you will ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing across multiple companies and provinces while supporting employee benefit programs.

Key responsibilities

• Process accurate and compliant payroll for the Scotia Investments family of companies, adhering to legislation and data protection requirements.
• Administer employee programs, handling enrolments, changes, and terminations across payroll, pension, and benefits platforms.
• Respond to payroll, pension, and benefits inquiries and support team leaders in using systems and processes.
• Complete reconciliations, remittances, billings, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with external vendors for smooth program administration and partner with People & Culture on disability case management and attendance programs.

Required profile

• PCP designation (required) and a diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, human resources, or related field.
• CPHR or CEBS designation is an asset.
• Experience working with collective agreements and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Experience with Payworks or a similar payroll/HRIS platform.
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
