Hospitality Associate – Patient Support Services

About the role

The Hospitality Associate works within Patient Support Services at Mississauga Hospital, providing essential housekeeping, patient transport, and meal‑service functions to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Order, stock, and distribute housekeeping and linen supplies.
• Maintain inventory of equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Transport patients to diagnostic departments and move furniture within the unit.
• Deliver, set up, and collect patient meal trays.
• Clean patient rooms, lounges, offices, corridors, utility rooms, and nurses’ stations daily.
• Empty garbage, sanitize containers, and perform floor care (dry mop, wet mop, buffing).
• Strip and make unoccupied beds and stretchers using approved chemicals.
• Communicate promptly with team members and management, including pager use.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, follow instructions and communicate with patients and co‑workers.
• Physical capability to perform lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Positive attendance record and flexibility to work all shifts, including weekends.

Required skills

• Operation of hospital transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers).
• Use of pagers for internal communication.
• Handling of cleaning chemicals and proper sanitation procedures.
